Looking for healthier Halloween treat options? Put the raisins away and hand out ‘get active’ swim/skate passes instead! For the month of October, the town is selling swim/skate passes for the reduced price of $5 for 10 tickets (50 cents per pass) to encourage Oakville’s little ghosts and goblins to have fun while exercising.

“The town is proud to offer discounted programs and services to help residents of all ages make more active and healthier choices,” Oakville Mayor Rob Burton said. “Take a dip in a pool, grab your skates or check out one of our family-friendly Halloween events.”

Get your ghoul on at Centennial Pool’s Monster Mash with Halloween-themed activities during the regular scheduled afternoon leisure swim on Sunday, October 27, from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Regular recreational swim admission fees apply.

Check out the Family Halloween Celebration at the Oakville Museum on Sunday, October 27, from 1 to 4 p.m. for $5 per person. Dress in costume to experience a historical Raggedy Ann storytime, hunt through Erchless Estate counting pumpkins, and make your own Halloween scarecrow craft.

Drop by the Family Halloween Howl at Iroquois Ridge Community Centre on Thursday, October 31, from 6 to 9 p.m. Swim to spooky music, watch a Halloween movie, make some Halloween crafts and healthy snacks, or participate in a Halloween fitness dance class. Cost is $8 per participant and accompanying adults will be admitted at no charge.

‘Get Active’ Halloween passes are available for purchase at town pools, community centres or Town Hall and are redeemable from November 1 to December 31, 2013, for children/youth aged two to 14 years. For more information visit the Culture and Recreation page.
