Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth at Royal Botanical Gardens’ Chocolate: The Exhibition

Royal Botanical Gardens (RBG) is serving up a delicious new exhibit from January 29  to April 15, 2012 that will focus on all things chocolate. Chocolate: The Exhibition is an educational experience for the mind and the taste buds for the whole family. RBG will show you how chocolate makes the journey, “From tree… to treat” with mouth-watering events and daily schedules.

Canada’s largest botanical gardens has created a feast of daily activities and some special itineraries for the upcoming holidays and weekends. Everyday visitors will be treated to the Cocoa Marketplace where visitors can enjoy and learn about chocolate using all their senses.  Throughout the day families can take part in The Chocolate Chase, a scrumptious scavenger hunt for cocoa beans that can be traded for treats in the Marketplace.

During the Week chocolate lovers can spend an entire day immersed in a learning fondue. Did you know that the seed pods of the cacao tree grow not on its branches but directly on the trunk? Learn more appetizing facts in the interactive learning program Grow It, Buy It, Taste It: The Stories of Chocolate. From Tree to Treat: Making Chocolate will show visitors how to make chocolate and treat their sweet tooth in the process. During Chocolatl: The Aztec Drink visitors will learn how to make the traditional Mexican drink, and will be invited to make and take home a chocolate creation at Cocoa Creations.

On holidays and weekends the RBG has special schedules set up to fill the minds and bellies of all ages. Enjoy additional delectable programming with Decadent Documentaries, films about chocolate, and A ChocoSol Experience with workshops run by chocolate experts. And for a truly decadent experience, add Sundae Sundays and Fondue Fridays to your schedule for the length of the exhibition .

Chocolate: The Exhibition will also feature school programs for the chocolate connoisseur in every grade. The learning doesn’t have to end during March Break, the RBG will be holding day camps with a variety of programming centred around children’s favourite treat. Throughout the length of the exhibition Chocolate Mondays will be filled with public programs for the mature chocolate lover.
