Planning requirements for assessing power generation proposals to be presented on September 21

Final study report will be posted on the town’s website on September 16

An open house, on September 21, will introduce new planning requirements for assessing proposals for power generation facilities. The new requirements are part of the proposed amendments to the town’s official plan, zoning by-law and north Oakville zoning by-law, and will provide the town with the ability to assess appropriate scale and location of power generation facilities, including cogeneration facilities. The proposed amendments are now available on the town’s website and the final study report will be posted online on September 16.

“Oakville residents have been very vocal on their views of power generation facilities and this open house is an opportunity for them to hear what town staff is proposing for assessing power generation proposals.” Mayor Rob Burton said.

The open house will run from 7–9 p.m. at Town Hall, 1225 Trafalgar Road, with a brief presentation from staff at 7:30 p.m. Following the presentation, town staff will be available to speak with individuals regarding the proposed amendments and the final study report.

A public meeting on the proposed amendments will also take place at Planning and Development Council on September 27 at 7 p.m. in the Council Chamber at Town Hall. Council will hear public delegations at this meeting. To register in advance as a delegate, please contact Kathy Patrick, supervisor, Council and committee services at 905-338-4235 or at kpatrick@oakville.ca.
