Oakville makes learning about our environment fun for kids!

New Enviro-packs now available at Oakville Public Library branches

Introducing kids to environmental issues just got easier! The Town of Oakville in partnership with the Oakville Public Library is offering a series of engaging and entertaining environmental learning packs. Each Enviro-pack features a variety of books, activities and other educational tools about local wildlife and bio-diversity, climate change, wise energy use and recycling.

The Enviro-packs provide a great introduction to local environmental issues with many of the material produced by the Town of Oakville and Region of Halton. Designed for kids ages 7 to 12, families and educators, packs contain books such as The Adventures of a Plastic Bottle, Life in a Pond and Weird Weather, as well as themed factsheets, word searches and puzzles; some also include stuffed animals and puppets.

“Our Enviro-packs are designed to make learning about important environmental issues fun,” said Cindy Toth, director, Environmental Policy for the Town of Oakville. “We hope they will help our kids grow to become environmentally-engaged citizens.”

Enviro-packs can be borrowed at no charge for up to three weeks, and are available at all six Oakville Public Library branches. Check ahead to see if the packs are in stock at your branch by visiting the Oakville Public Library website and searching for Enviro-packs.

The Town of Oakville offers a variety of environmental initiatives to educate Oakville residents on how to live a green and healthy life. Stewardship programs are available to schools and community groups providing resources on topics such as anti-idling and water pollution. For more information visit the Environment page.
