Oakville invites residents to ‘Make their Move’ on Family Day!

More than 100 free family-friendly activities planned at 12 locations across Oakville

Build your tradition with us! Families across Oakville are encouraged to mark their calendars for an exciting play date with their children on Monday, February 21. This special date marks the third annual Make Your Move Family Day—a day full of free activities and special events for all ages and abilities.

Sponsored by Genworth Financial Canada and presented in partnership with the Oakville Public Library and the YMCA of Oakville, this year’s event offers new venue locations and invites families to participate in a variety of drop-in activities planned throughout the day.

“This is a great way to spend quality time with family, connect with the community, and make new friends,” said Nina de Vaal, director of Recreation and Culture for the Town of Oakville. “Plus, our free events and activities allow families to enjoy the benefits of healthy living by getting active and trying something new.”

This year’s event offers families more than 100 free activities to exercise the mind and body. Activities include children’s entertainment, drumming, rock climbing, reptile party, karate, hockey, shooter pads, family storytimes, Wii video gaming, arts and crafts, yoga, fitness classes, sports demonstrations, skating with the Oakville Blades, photos on a Zamboni, and TONS more! Residents can also enjoy time on the ice and in the pool with the free Tim Hortons sponsored recreational skating and swimming times at participating Oakville arenas and pools.

The pre-registered show Loki’s Big Dream will run at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tickets are free but should be reserved in advance by calling the Box Office at 905-815-2021 or by booking on the Oakville Centre web page.
