Councillor Adams appointed chair of 2014 Budget Committee

Residents and stakeholders invited to provide input on proposed budget priorities on July 4

At yesterday’s inaugural Budget Committee meeting, Councillor Tom Adams was appointed for a sixth consecutive year as Oakville’s budget chair. Councillor Adams holds his Master’s in Business Administration from McMaster University and is a former senior risk manager to one of Canada’s major financial institutions.

As its first order of business, the Budget Committee received the 2014 Budget Directions and 2015 and 2016 Budget Forecast, Draft 2014 Capital Budget and Long-term Forecast, and Community Partnerships reports. The Budget Committee will reconvene on July 4, 2013, at 9:30 a.m. in Council Chamber to provide direction to staff as they move forward in preparing the 2014 budget.

Residents and stakeholders are invited to share their recommendations and comments with the Budget Committee at this meeting. For those who are unable to attend the meeting in person please email

The Budget Committee’s recommendations will be presented to Council for approval on July 8. The staff recommended budgets will be prepared in accordance with Council’s direction and presented to the Budget Committee in November. The recommended 2014 budget is targeted to go to Council for final approval in December. The 2014 budget reports can be viewed on the 2014 budget page.
