If you have a love for all things Scottish, come salute Scotland’s greatest poet Robert Burns on Sunday, January 24 from 1 to 4 p.m. as the Oakville Museum hosts A Wee Celebration event. Stay warm and cozy in the historic Erchless mansion and enjoy readings of Robbie Burns’ works, performed by crowd favourites, Mr. Iain McNicol and Mr. Doug Orr.

The festivities will also include music by The Playford Players throughout the afternoon and Scottish activities for the wee ones.

“Wear your tartan with pride and bring the kids to learn about Scottish heritage,” said Bill Nesbitt, museum supervisor. “And, no Scottish celebration would be complete without a piped-in Address to the Haggis along with samples of haggis and other traditional Scottish fare.”

Tickets to A Wee Celebration are $7 per person and can be ordered by phone at 905-338-4400 or at the Oakville Museum, located at 8 Navy Street, south of Lakeshore Road.

Oakville Museum at Erchless Estate is a beautiful estate home and gardens, set on the shores of Lake Ontario near downtown Oakville. The museum presents the community’s history through exhibits and events at the home of Oakville’s founding family, the Chisholms. Tours through the estate are offered year-round, Tuesday to Sunday from 1 – 4:30 p.m. For more information, visit the Oakville Museum website.
