All town-run recreational programs will continue as scheduled as of 3 p.m. today

Wednesday, February 02, 2011 – for immediate release

All town-run recreational programs will continue as scheduled as of 3 p.m. today

Oakville Transit users should expect significant service delays

Environment Canada has ended its official weather warning and snow is expected to end early this evening. All recreational programs with start times of 3 p.m. or later on Wednesday, February 2 will continue as scheduled. All recreational facilities will remain open for drop-in use and scheduled rentals.

Residents are reminded that primary and secondary roads are cleared first to ensure easy access for emergency service vehicles and public transit. Residential streets are plowed after snow accumulates in excess of 10 centimetres.

Streets are to be cleared within 24 hours after the end of the storm. Heavy snowfalls can sometimes extend this period longer than 24 hours. Sidewalks are cleared only after snow accumulates in excess of five centimetres, and only after roads are cleared.

Residents are reminded not to park their vehicles on streets or at town facility parking lots to allow for snow clearing. For more information, visit the snow clearing page or call the snow information line at 905-815-5999.
